New patients start with a comprehensive evaluation. We discuss your health history, environmental exposures, diet, lifestyle, and genetics (if you have that information), and anything else that may be affecting your health. I typically ask about workplace health, social and emotional health, and other big picture things in your life to ensure we've discussed anything that might be negatively effecting your health.
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Medicine is an empowering and comprehensive approach to healing based on the belief that the human body can heal itself if we remove the obstacles in its way.
Many people ask me “Why, if our bodies can heal themselves, are so many people suffering from chronic illness?” The truth is that there are many reasons. To quote my physiology professor Harold Modell, “Life is cumulative and every choice we make, every life experience/obstacle we experience and inherited gene received contributes to our health or our illness.” Naturopathic Doctors such as myself are trained to identify these obstacles, identifying the underlying causes that are preventing healing from occurring.
Naturopathic Medicine providers use many complex therapies in supporting our patient’s best health including: diet and lifestyle changes, supplements including vitamins and botanicals, prescription medications with the goal of always using the least harmful, most effective therapies for the shortest time possible to support and optimize a patient’s health. These therapies are designed to address the underlying causes of an illness and stimulate the body’s natural healing potential.
